Holy Spirit Academy partnered with the High River Royal Canadian Legion Branch 71.  The purpose of the partnership was two fold:

  1. Raise awareness with the students about community involvement.

  1. To help the legion fund raise for the Poppy fund which assists war veterans.

The premise was that the students would collect pop can pull tabs.  The classroom with the most tabs collected would receive a pizza lunch as a prize.  The contest was run from November 1st 2021 to the end of February 2022.

The winning class was Mrs Osmachenko’s Grade 6 class.  The photos depict the winning class with their teacher, Mrs Rorke (Vice principal), and Bob Collins (Past President Royal Canadian Legion  Br 71).

The tabs were converted to funds amounting to $111.25 for the Poppy fund.

By all indicators from the students and teaching staff this project was a enormous success.

Should  anyone in the community wish to become involved in this venture all that need be done is to collect pop can pull taps and drop them off at the High River  Legion.

Once again a huge thank you all the students and staff at Holy Spirit Academy for an outstanding job.
